LEGEND

The legend goes like that: ”once upon the time, priests lived in the Lao-Tsan temple in Burma. The most religious priest, called Mun-Ha was a devout of the gold goddess with sapphire eyes, Tsun-Kiankse. She was the goddess of reincarnation and led the humans on their way between their human body and that of an animal. With that priest lived his cat Sinh, the leader of over 100 sacred cats that lived in that temples. All the cats had a white body, but their face, their feet and their tail had the color of humus.
This was a holly and peaceful place. But one day the place was attacked, and Mun-Ha was killed while he was praying. His cat Sinh jumped on his dead master’s head, and looked tenderly at the goddess. Tsun-Kiankse could not dismiss the cat, and made a miracle. The white coat of the cat turned to gold, his eyes became like the goddess’eyes: sapphire blue. The humus color of the cat turned to a pure white. Sinh stood guard near his dead master during 7 days and finally died near him. Then the priest came together to elect Mun-Ha’s successor. At this very time, all the cats of the temple appeared, and all had been changed by the miracle. Since then, every cat that dies takes the reincarnated soul of a priest with him for eternity.
Since that day, all sacred cats of Burma have the sapphire eyes of the goddess, their coat is golden, their face, their tail and their feet are dark, with the exception of the paws, covered with white gloves.””

This is only a legend. True or false. But it makes you dream, doesn’t it.

""Another modern legend says that at the end of the 19th century, a major of the English army and a French diplomat brought back sacred cats of Burma from a trip to the Far East. These cats were given to them by the priests of a temple, in return for their help. The species appears again in 1920, in the South of France. An American multimillionaire was supposed to have bought one couple of sacred cats of Burma stolen by an unfaithful servant. The multimillionaire gave them to Mrs Thadde Hadisch. The male died, but the female gave birth to Poupée de Madalpour presented in a cat competition in Paris in 1926.""

The species has changed a lot since then, however this legends leave a bit of mystery about their origin.
