MY CATTERY
The
cattery « Dragon de Jade » was created in 1999, from our passion for Birmans.
REVE D'OR is the first female born at home, she had her first show at the age of
4 months, going to the podium. Then she was neutered and carries on her course
as such. She made me go on with exhibitions, her results encouraging me. Since
she was born in my cattery, she carries that name, and she was the beginning of
a great passion. My cattery grew quickly, because I wanted beautiful, first of
all well balanced cats, regarding health and spirit. I have always been
interested by genetics, even more by researches on pedigrees. This is why I try
to go back very far in the flocks to understand, learn and first of all make
judicious couples. Indeed, putting two cats together is not enough to have
beautiful kittens. Everything must be considered thoroughly and the race may not
be spoiled.
A kitten, for companionship, reproduction or exhibition, must be a balanced kitten. He will leave us for a good family that brings it all possible happiness. It is not enough to produce kittens, to keep them for 3 months and let them go without knowing what will happen to them. It is why I never sale kitten in exhibitions. My work as a breeder is to inform the public, or the person that will take the kitten from me. Just as the person selects my cattery, I select the furture owner of my kittens. I consider it my duty !
All my cats live in good understanding, even if the males are kept isolated. For
me there is no wandering nor unexpected mating. Everything is calculated. I want
to manage all the coupling, for the well being of my females. No overbreeding,
but I know how strong my females are, how they do and what they feel. We have
just bought a large flat adapted to my cats, with rooms and patios to isolate
the males, a room to isolate a mother that needs her quiet, but they are allowed
in all rooms, the cats live with us, or we live with them. Their sanitary and
spiritual well being is important for me. A cat must be happy. My cat do not
live outdoor, they have access to gratted patios, to avid falls. Our males live
all together in a part of the house with a large veranda where they can sleep at
the sun of our dear south.
I love also perfection in the couplings, in the well being of cats, in the
respect of laws. Therefore, my cattery is registred and I have the enabling
certificate (certificat de capacité). My passion goes farer than my cats, for I
am always listening to a cat lover who’d need information on the species, this
way I’ve helped a few cat lovers to enter the breeding world, who like my work,
for at home, the cat is king. My role of breeder goes further, because more than
reproduce, I think that the private individual should be informed, that is why I
go in exhibitions and in presentation in order to listen cat lovers.In addition
to my great passion, the Birmans, I have been breeding Chartreux, the French cat
by excellence, since 2002. My husband introduced me to this species, with a
complete different mind. The Chartreux is more independent, while the Birman is
a dog-cat, always sticking to its owner.
As for Birmans, I love beautifuls Chartreux, and I am interested by their genetics and flocks story. My first female is named STELLA DE LA BAIE D’AGAY. After long searches in pedigrees and standard, two other cats have joined my cattery: URIA DU GANG DES BURGONDES and ULTIME COCKTAIL DE L’ETOILE DU SOIR. Then I kept some kittens of my females, since my work of breeder, is a work of selection. A new little male from the gang des burgondes is arrived in 2005 in our cattery to extand the genetic pool: ARCHIBALD.
In 2004, my husband fell in love with a small red ball which was VIKING DU MAS
DE COPPELIA, a small Norwegian and the tribe increased with VALKYRIE DU GANG DES
BURGONDES, VAYANNA & VALLALA DU MAS DE COPPELIA and I and I lately kept from the
union of Valkyrie and Viking: APHRODITE DU DRAGON DE JADE and just lately a new
arrival with AVEDINE DE LA CACHOUTEBA & a small whit ball with walleyes CANDY
CANDY DEL GATTOMATTO.
My work as a breeder is to work on flocks, to respect the species, but first of all to respect the cat, in every senses of the word, for me a cat must be happy and we are not allowed to have kittens born without knowing they will be happy. My work is also to inform the public, to make know the species I love and transmit my passion. I want to thank all the persons who helped me by selling me a cat or quite simply by helping me in my research (in France or abroad) because the breeding is difficult and closed enough. Even if one does a good breeding, as one feels it, according to ethics, one is always envied, mainly if success is here. Even if I learned quickly, even if the kittens born in my cattery are beautiful according to standard, balanced and healthy, my work as a breeder has not been easy. But passion helped me through. If people envy me or criticize me, may be it is because of my success…
The breeding plan I undergo with my cats is my own business and I do not allow other to judge me. I respect my cats, regarding their standard and their health. I’ll carry on breeding healthy and balanced cats, while preserving the species and informing all requesting persons, for my work is not ended, it is only beginning.
I would like to thank also the persons which have closed their doors to me,
which refused to sell to me, which tried to put to me sticks in the gear wheels
of my breeding, this failures permits me to become stronger for finally find
what I really needed and continuing my breeding peacefully as my passion pushes
me to do it. Those people will reconize themselves since they spend their time
reading my site and are aware of each action of mine in time and hours: but I do
not have anything to hide!

My breeding is a real passion, and I have the change to share it with my
husband, the exhibitions are our holidays and permit us to meet great people, to
see cats doing such thousand ok kilometers… passion when you hold us…
